TIPS FOR NEXT GROUPS

Let us share with you some useful tips.
PRIOR TO DEPARTURE

There were couple of organizational things that must have been arranged. When travelling with a biometric passport (recommended) you have to fill out ESTA form. After you pay a $14 fee, you are basically ready to go and don’t need to wait for receiving any confirmation on your email. Then Magda from HR helped us to book the flights and arranged a travel insurance. After entering your business trip into the calendar you will also receive travel allowances from Andrea in the financial dept. Apart from this we also proactively looked up some conferences we would like to attend, later on Magda booked some of them for us.

PLACES TO EAT

There are many great places where to eat around San Francisco.
If you decide to eat in any of those places, you will spend less than buying food in gorcery store.
Valencia Street close to the apartments is the best choice for going out and dining out. As it's rather Mexican district, you may find many Taquerias and Burritos places, but you can find there Indian, Italian, or Spanish cuisine too.
In the Mission District where we live there is e.g. amazing rooftop bar/restaurant El Techo de Lolinda. You definitely should visit that!
Financial District is the full of take away bars and food places. The possibilities are endless: Thai, Indian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mexican, and many other cuisines to choose from...
Bon Apetit!

PLACES TO VISIT

There are fantastic places in and out of San Francisco. We're going to update regularly this section while discovering the places on our own. So far, we recommend to explore San Francisco inside out, the parks, beaches, famous monuments, harbour etc. Among the most touristic places are:

Golden Gate Bridge
Fisherman's Wharf
Palace of Fine Arts
Coit Tower
Alcatraz tour leaving from Pier 33
Golden Gate Park
Mission Dolores Park
Buena Vista Park
Alemo Square - Painted Ladies
China Town
Ocean Beach
Coastal Trail from Sutro Baths to Baker Beach
and many others...

There is even more to see outside the city.

Yosemite National Park, Muir Woods National Monument, Big Sur, Carmel-by-the-Sea city, Lake Tahoe, Napa Valley, Los Angeles, San Diego, and many more.

GROCERIES

If you haven't heard of Whole Foods Market, you should at least pop in to see the culture of presenting food in an incredibly precise manner. It's about 10 mins walk from the apartments. The prices are higher than in other supermarkets, but it's worth it. Next to the Whole Foods you can also find Safeway, another supermarket with wide selection of groceries, cosmetics, and other stuff. Then there is Walgreens and other small local gorceries on the streets.
