Upon Arrival

First week was all about settling in. We spent first two nights in the hotel as the apartments were still not furnished and ready for us. There was a small disadvantage being first group as there were couple of things that needed to be arranged after our arrival: Internet connection in the apartments and getting US SIM cards. It took us couple of weeks before we were able to get those and finally we could focus 100% on our work and the project.

Vara Apartments, located on the 1600 15th St. in the Mission District, were Avast rented 2 apartments for us, are just amazing. This super nice and modern place includes a place for a quiet work, a gym and a place with a big terrace for chilling out after work or having a BBQ. Both apartments #603 and #623 are located on the 6th floor, both have 3 bedrooms and a small terrace with an amazing view. Mission District is little bit adventurous, it is considered as a Mexican/Latin American district with graffiti houses, and great various places for a dinner. We recommend going on Valencia Street where you will find all bars and restaurants. The closest Mission Dolores Park has an amazing view to the city skyline.

The best way to get to our office RocketSpace, which is located in the Financial District, is to take BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit, the local metro) on the 16th and Mission to Montgomery Station (3 stops) and it takes around 20 minutes door to door. When we arrived, Teresa from RocketSpace gave us an introduction and showed us around. The place is cool, you can chat with roughly 750 people who work from there from different startups, you can enjoy free drinks during whole day and attend many events organized by the RocketSpace guys and startups themselves.

To easily move around the city, we bought a MUNI + BART clipper cards for $86. You can get those in every Walgreens store you see. The card for this price is valid only for San Francisco city.

And if you are wondering how was the weather, Mark Twain once said: “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” And so something similar we experienced but we even enjoyed nice sunny days.
