This year’s ClickZLive conference was led in the spirit of “World going mobile” and how mobile is changing customer behavior. Contextual marketing is what makes mobile marketing valuable. The stats from market researchers say that 51% of emails are opened on mobile, Mobile ad spending is growing 3x than non-mobile, Mobile search overtook desktop search in 2015, 61% of mobile searches result in call, and 100% of Facebook’s revenue growth is coming from mobile. A session focused on Internet of Things and Hybrid Marketer have been very appealing, especially for the tech audience in Bay Area. According to Smart Insights, 51% of marketers expect IoT to revolutionize the marketing landscape by 2020. Apart from that, here are some of the interesting marketing research results we could learn about:

  • 44% of overall respondents say they would consider ending a brand relationship because of irrelevant promotions, and an additional 22% say they would definitely defect from the brand.

  • People spend 4 and half hours on TV and almost 6 hours on digital devices every day

  • People open 24 apps a month on average (mainly FB, YouTube, Maps, Pandora, Gmail)

  • There are 93M selfies taken every day!

  • Average attention span is 8 seconds

What attracted my attention the most were ideas on how to differentiate from the competition. The number one advice was to create Tutorials or Guides that attract attention and trust. These have become scarce resources. Relating this to Avast, the output would be: People will trust Avast as Avast wants to educate them and protect them. A nice thought at times when retaining customers has been becoming quite difficult.
