The conference took place in Hilton Union Square, San Francisco.
Thanks to the RocketSpace office we were working from we were lucky to receive a last minute note about free tickets for the MobileBeat 2015 conference organized by the well known tech news portal VentureBeat. The tickets normally cost $1200, so we’re glad to stay at the RocketSpace!
This two-day conference offered interesting speakers and breakout sessions, mostly focused on the trends of mobile industry and the business itself. We’ve learned interesting facts such as:
· There are 1.6 billion smartphones around the world
· 66% of American adults own a smartphone
· Americans spend on mobile phones every day 3 hours on average
· 50% of e-commerce website traffic comes from mobile
· 70% of people would rather give up alcohol than their smartphone
· 96% of college students say they will give up anything else besides their mobile
We were also lucky enough to receive an invitation to a private dinner organized by “Cheetah Ad Platform”. We found it even more useful than the conference itself as we got a chance to talk to many professionals and team leaders from companies like Uber, VentureBeat or Fetch. Interesting thing we’ve learned is that if we wanted to work on our skills and learn more about the industry we are working in we shouldn’t hesitate contacting people directly on LinkedIn and ask them to go for a chat over a coffee. This approach was completely NEW for us. Dinner guests were even friendly enough to give us some tips what to visit in and around the city.
